I'm in Rome at the moment with the lovely Rachel! We are currently dying from the heat, but we're having an amazing time exploring!!
Rome is an incredibly beautiful place, and it's so nice to see the old mixed in with the new! Yesterday we exhausted ourselves waking around the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. The buildings and ruins were all extremely impressive and very beautiful (and clean!). It was great fun walking around them all, although by the end the heat was a little unbearable! 😅 However, we did manage to find a lovely little restaurant where we could have some delicious pasta, so we did manage to end on a good high!
It was really interesting to walk around the ruins and picture how it used to be. It really made me think about how much things have changed and how long lasting somethings can be (with a little care of course).
Today we had a more relaxed walk around Rome. We walked from the stunning Trevi Fountain, to the incredible Pantheon, through multiple Piazzas and across the river to the beautiful Castle San Angelo, and down to the edge of Saint Peter's square. I definitely feel like we saw more today but it was a nice relaxing walk around the city. We just wandered and discovered some lovely little spots. One of these spots was a breathtaking church which opened its doors just as we were walking by! It really is incredible in Rome how there's is so much history and so many beautiful spots just dotted around the city, hidden amongst the the city it is today! Even just the everyday fountains, the cobbled streets, and the surrounding flowers add the the beauty that is Rome!
Our last stop of the day, before heading off to dinner, was one of the Hard Rock cafes in Rome so that I could (of course) add to my collection. This was a must do for me, and it definitely added to my excitement of the day haha! But of course I can't top the amazing sights we've been seeing!
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll be back soon to tell you about the rest of our trip.
